After waiting years for someone to deliver the first
RVU-capable multiroom DVR setup, info leaked to
SatelliteGuys indicates we only have to hold out one more week for DirecTV's
HR34 DVR. While DirecTV has yet to make an official announcement, retailer info states that it will be available starting Thursday for just $99 after rebate ($399 rack rate), bringing five tuners, 1TB of storage,
whole home DVR service in up to four active rooms, and more. Of course, we'll need to see some of the RVU-compatible HDTVs mentioned (
Samsung 6000, 6400, and 6420 series) released before we can
ditch the extra satellite TV boxes for good, but this is the first step. Hit the source link for more details including a full spec sheet PDF.

INFORMATICA INFOCUS ZORAN ZIONS BAN YAHOO
Being that DISH just introduced the Hopper and Joey at CES this year, I compared it to the HR32 from Directv. Although both DVR’s function similarly, the Hopper still stands out as being superior because of the 2-terabyte DVR storage it holds and its exclusive Prime Time Anytime feature. I don’t have a Hopper yet since they haven’t been released, but I found out from some co-workers at DISH who’ve tested the Prime Time Anytime feature that it does record up to 8 days automatically of ABC, NBC, FOX and CBS prime time in HD. The feature must be enabled, and even when it is enabled, it records all of this prime time content in a reserve memory, and doesn’t take up any of the 2-terabyte DVR storage. I’m so glad I held out for DISH’s whole-home DVR solution because it is surely going to prove to be the best on the market.
